Using the process of digitisation and professional processing, the e-catalogue The Maps of Military Geographical Institutes in the Croatian History Museum presents the topographic and topical maps, plans, and atlases published by two military geographical institutes—in Vienna and Belgrade—as valuable historical sources.

The e-catalogue offers users uniform access to information, with the goal of popularising cartographical materials, but simultaneously preserving cultural-historical heritage and protecting original museum items. With the help of contemporary technology, numerous and diverse cartographical depictions published by the Imperial and Royal Military Geographical Institute in Vienna as well as the Military Geographical Institute in Belgrade have been gathered in one place, allowing for a more comprehensive insight into the work of the mentioned institutions as well as the holdings of the Cartographical Collection of the Croatian History Museum.
